Howdy, my name is Yorick Peterse and I’m a web developer from the Netherlands. Sounds simple right? Well, there’s more than just that. I’m 17 years old, live on my own together with my girlfriend and have a full-time job as a web developer at Isset. Besides spending my time working with the web I also like to draw, have a ride on my skates, play some video games or practice martial arts. Oh, and we also have a cat, simply named “Cat”.

I was raised in a family full of creative people. My mother used to draw a lot, both my sisters were either into dancing/music or art and my dad was the mad scientist. Out of that family came me, a person who loved many forms of art and design but never really knew what he wanted to really do. I went to art academy for about 6 months but decided to quit. It just didn’t fit me. Currently I’m working for Isset, as stated earlier, and so far I love every bit of it.

My web development skills range from plain HTML/CSS to PHP and Python. I’m an expert at the CodeIgniter framework and recently started working with ExpressionEngine 2 (it’s what powers this website). I’m also relatively skilled with both jQuery and normal Javascript, though I try to avoid using it as it tends to become slow very quickly (I’m a speed freak). Due to my creative background I’m also able to look at a problem from multiple points of view. As simple as that may sound it’s something many can’t, they simply do things the way they’re used to or the way they think is best.
